A country is not a lifestyle ranking or a "best place" list. It is a substrate — the combination of natural resources, physical geography, institutional quality, rule of law, infrastructure, human capital, and governance that makes some capabilities easy and others expensive or impossible.
The substrate lens
Use these dimensions to inspect what a country makes available:
- Physical: Geography, climate, natural resources, proximity to markets and risk
- Institutional: Rule of law, property rights, contract enforcement, regulatory quality
- Infrastructure: Transport, energy, digital connectivity, health, education systems
- Human capital: Skills distribution, demographic structure, capability concentration
- Governance: Decision speed, coordination capacity, accountability, adaptation
This is not a score. It is a way to ask: what does this substrate make possible, and for whom?
