Mental Models
Mental models are system lenses. They help a human or agent classify a situation, choose a frame, and act with better judgment.
Core Lenses
| Lens | Start with | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Intention | Intention | The question is what matters or why to act |
| Attention | AI | The question is what to focus on or automate |
| Navigation | Navigation | The question is how to steer under uncertainty |
| Systems | Systems | The question is how feedback loops are shaping outcomes |
| Agency | Agency | The question is capability, character, or action |
Scope
Do not create one-off top-level model folders. A mental model belongs here when it is a reusable lens for reading systems. If it is a method, put it under the domain that uses it. If it is a standard, put it under Standards. If it is a private idea, do not publish it until it has a durable public job.
Context
- Systems Thinking - feedback loops, leverage, and side effects.
- Meta Learning - how knowledge compounds.
- Navigation - steering under changing context.
- Agency - capability, character, and action.
