Authorise Bounded Work
Bring your Decision Trace. Keep its ID, revision, Intention, and Belief; complete the Mandate here. If you do not have a trace, prepare one first.
Use when. A named job is ready to be delegated but its authority boundary is not explicit.
Do not use when. Purpose is still unset, or you want the model to start work, spend, or contact anyone.
Your input. Job, beneficiary, desired output, named worker, allowed tools and actions, prohibited actions, limits, approvals, stop, recovery, and review time.
Your quality check. Each mandate condition is supported, contradicted, or unknown. Unknown authority means the work does not start. Human acceptance stays blank.

For a person working with their agent
Human decision — cannot be delegated. Accept, correct, or stop. A copied template or agent assertion cannot grant authority. No clinic CTA.
Candidate teaching projection; contextual recipe unproved. The JTBD Ledger keeps this route as a gap until a contextual owner accepts the method and retains decision evidence.
Outcome
An accepted mandate stating outcome, responsibility, permissions, checks, stop, recovery, and correction owner.
Use When
Trigger this job before a person or agent begins delegated work. The mandate owner retains purpose, permission, spend, risk, and stop.
Inputs
Job, beneficiary, worker, permitted and prohibited actions, limits, approvals, gauge, stop, recovery, and review time.
Recipe
Copy the prompt. Classify each mandate condition as supported, contradicted, or unknown. Leave acceptance blank until the named human agrees to this exact trace revision.
Worked example
Hypothetical teaching example. These are alternative endings, not observed customer results. The machine-readable versions use the same Decision Trace schema.
One incoming enquiry
Intention: Sam, an owner-operator, wants to decide the next step for an incoming enquiry without inventing buyer needs. Current manual review takes about 15 minutes in this fictional baseline. Protect accuracy, privacy, and the buyer's right to decide.
Belief: separating supplied facts from unanswered questions may reduce Sam's review time. Predict a review within ten minutes with no unsupported qualification claims. Confidence is low: this is one trial. More correction work or invented buyer facts would contradict the prediction.
Mandate: one assistant may read the supplied enquiry and draft a brief within ten minutes. No external lookup, private-data retrieval, contact, CRM update, promises, or final qualification decision. Sam retains acceptance and stop authority. Stop on ambiguity or a request to exceed those permissions; preserve the draft and return to manual assessment. Return the trace and brief to Sam in the same private conversation. Fix expiry and review times before Sam accepts revision 1; dates in the downloadable fixtures are historical.
Ending 1: a useful result
Sam accepts revision 1. The assistant lists supplied facts and missing budget and timing information. Sam reviews in eight minutes and records no unsupported claims. Sam chooses to retain the method for another trial; contacting the buyer requires its own authority. One faster review does not prove improved sales or buyer benefit.
Inspect the hypothetical reviewed trace.
Ending 2: permission is missing
Sam has not accepted the mandate. The assistant returns a draft and identifies the missing decision: Sam must accept or correct revision 1. Delegated work does not begin. Review may record that stop; it must not claim completed work.
Inspect the draft with missing acceptance.
Ending 3: evidence contradicts the belief
Sam's review takes 18 minutes because the supplied enquiry does not answer the necessary questions. The prediction failed. Sam stops this method, records the extra review effort and unknown buyer benefit, and chooses manual assessment. A proposed narrower trial becomes a new draft revision; the assistant does not rewrite the original prediction to make the result pass.
Human and AI Control
An agent may act only inside the recorded mandate. Technical access is not authority. Stop on ambiguity, protected-constraint risk, expired authority, unexpected external consequence, or inability to recover.
Output and Handoff
Return the accepted mandate and hand the receipt to outcome review.
Evidence and Stop
Retain the mandate revision, restatement, approvals, exceptions, stops, and recovery. Stop and contain work when scope or authority diverges. A signed mandate does not prove correct execution or beneficiary value.
Reliability
Skill and tool: bounded-work governance using a reviewable Bounded Work Authorisation. The authorisation is the pattern; explicit human acceptance and expiry are the protocol. Retain proposals, corrections, stops, and recovery as evidence. Accept only the human-approved version.
