Te Whare Tapa Whā is a model of health that includes four dimensions: physical, mental, social, and spiritual. The model is represented by the four walls of a wharenui (meeting house), each wall supporting the others to keep the house strong.
- Whenua: The spaces where you feel comfortable, safe and able to be yourself. It could be around your friends, at home with whānau, as part of a sports team or even at your place of study or work.
- Taha Whanau: Family and social well-being.
- Mahi Me Te Tākaro: Work and the Play must be in balance.
- Taha Tinana: Physical well-being.
- Taha Hinengaro: Mental and emotional well-being.
- Taha Wairua: Spiritual well-being
