Principles

Te Whare Tapa Whā is a model of health that includes four dimensions: physical, mental, social, and spiritual. The model is represented by the four walls of a wharenui (meeting house), each wall supporting the others to keep the house strong.

  1. Whenua: The spaces where you feel comfortable, safe and able to be yourself. It could be around your friends, at home with whānau, as part of a sports team or even at your place of study or work.
  2. Taha Whanau: Family and social well-being.
  3. Mahi Me Te Tākaro: Work and the Play must be in balance.
  4. Taha Tinana: Physical well-being.
  5. Taha Hinengaro: Mental and emotional well-being.
  6. Taha Wairua: Spiritual well-being

Fears

People are more motivated more fear of loss than realize potential gains. Fears, uncertainty and doubt prohibit the opportunity to create value from a state of flow. General fears include:

  1. Fear Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD)
  2. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO)
  3. Irreversible Errors
  4. Change and The Unknown
  5. Failure

Social Fears:

  1. Rejection
  2. Loneliness
  3. Being judged
  4. Public speaking

Mental Health:

  1. Genetic Traits
  2. Feeling Inadequate
  3. Loss of Agency
  4. Imposter Syndrome

Physical Health:

  1. Becoming seriously ill
