Business Plan Template

Use this as a fill-in template. Aim to keep the whole page to 1 side of A4.

1. Title & One-Line Description

  • Business name:
  • One-liner (who, what, DePIN/crypto angle): Example: "Token-incentivised solar routing network for Queenstown hospitality venues."

2. Problem & Why Now

  • What system is broken / value is leaking?
  • Who feels the pain most (segment, region, stakeholder)?
  • Why this is urgent now (NZ context, regulation, climate, AI/compute, tourism, etc.)?
  • Why DePIN/crypto is necessary (misaligned incentives, coordination failure, financing gap)?

3. System Map & Opportunity

  • "Universe → where we sit" (brief description of the full system and your slot in it):
  • Market size and value at stake (rough, directional):
  • Physical network (what nodes/assets are on the DePIN):
    • Assets (solar, EV chargers, sensors, gondolas, servers, etc.)
    • Who owns/hosts them (households, SMEs, councils, utilities, funds)

4. Solution & Product Snapshot

  • Plain-language product description (no jargon):
  • Primary users and their core "job to be done":
  • Key differentiator that puts you "top right" on the market map:
  • On-chain vs off-chain split:
    • What runs on-chain?
    • What stays in conventional infra/SaaS?
  • What (if anything) is tokenised (revenue, usage rights, carbon, credits, governance)?

5. Market & Competition Mini-Map

  • Incumbents / reference competitors (3-7 investors will recognise):
  • Crypto/DePIN neighbours (global analogues, if any):
  • Why you win in NZ:
    • Sovereign data / local alignment:
    • Better economics or UX for operators / users:
    • Infra + AI/analytics advantages:

6. Execution & Unit Economics

  • Current stage (idea / prototype / pilot / revenue) and traction:
  • DePIN footprint so far (devices, sites, km of route, kW installed, etc.):
  • Unit economics (for one "node" or customer):
    • Cost to acquire and deploy/serve:
    • Expected revenue and margin:
  • 12-24 month execution plan and success criteria (what you will prove before next raise):

7. Token / Crypto Economics

  • Who pays into the system (and in what asset - NZD, stablecoin, token)?
  • Who earns, and for doing what work (providing capital, hardware, data, attention, governance)?
  • How tokens/points map to real-world value (fees, yield, discounts, ownership, rights):
  • Mechanisms that drive behaviour (staking, slashing, quests, dynamic pricing, auctions):
  • Planned chains / infra (L1/L2, or off-chain + settlement approach):

8. Team & Credibility

  • Founders and key team (2-4 bullets):
    • Relevant infra/energy/transport/fintech experience:
    • Web3/crypto/DePIN experience:
    • Prior exits or scaled products:
  • Advisors / backers / key relationships (councils, utilities, super funds, DAOs, etc.):

9. Governance, Regulatory & Sovereignty

  • Entity and governance structure (company, company + foundation, DAO overlay, SPVs):
  • NZ regulatory considerations and how you address them (FMA, AML/CFT, financial products, councils, ETS):
  • Data and infra sovereignty (where data lives, who controls infra, ability for NZ to retain strategic control):

10. The Ask

  • Amount you're raising and instrument (equity, SAFE, token warrants, infra SPV, rev share, blend):
  • Use of funds (approx % split):
    • Product & protocol:
    • Hardware/DePIN rollout:
    • Go-to-market & partnerships:
    • Regulatory/legal/compliance:
  • What you want from lead investors:
    • Cheque size / role (lead, anchor, follower):
    • Intros (super funds, councils, ministries, global partners):
    • Strategic help (infra structuring, capital stacking, PR, gov engagement):
