Truth is infrastructure. Goodwill is built on Trust. Trust is built on Truth. When truth-verification fails, everything built on it fails.

The Epistemic Crisis​

We are losing shared grip on "what's real" at exactly the moment our tools can manufacture infinite, convincing alternatives. Lennon's line—"reality leaves a lot to the imagination"—stops being poetic and becomes a description of our information substrate.

Concentric Rings of Truth​

Truth-seeking isn't a single act — it's concentric feedback loops, each triggering at different scales and moments.

The insight: undiluted meaning requires mechanical enforcement. Philosophy alone drifts. Protocols alone get skipped. Hooks fire whether you remember or not.

The Coach Protocol is an instance of this pattern:

  • Philosophy: "Ask, don't tell"
  • Protocol: Three questions before any change
  • Hook: PreToolUse:ExitPlanMode fires the gate
  • Measurement: Evidence level determines valid actions

Each ring catches what the previous ring missed. The outermost ring (infrastructure) catches what even mechanical triggers can't — it makes forgery expensive and verification cheap.

Truth as Shared Standard​

Truth isn't absolute — it's a function of perspective (how you see) and capabilities (what tools you have to interpret). What makes truth workable is a shared open standard for verifying action and consequence.

The principle: Truth emerges from the loop, not from declaration. You don't claim truth — you create infrastructure where action and consequence are verifiable by anyone with the capability to read the standard.

The Infrastructure Response​

When truth can be manufactured, you need infrastructure that makes verification cheap and forgery expensive:

The core risk is epistemic: groups inhabiting incompatible realities, identity signals becoming spoofable, no referee with enough legitimacy to adjudicate. The response is a stack of primitives—cryptographic identity, content provenance, accountable systems—designed to restore workable levels of truth in a world where reality is cheap to fake.
